Megan's Story

Megan killed herself was a thirteen year old girl who committed suicide because of a woman named Lori Drew who posed as a thirteen year old boy and told Megan “the world would be a better place without you.” Lori was tried and found guilty but was not charged with a felony but a misdemeanor. MySpace is now working on something to stop cyber bullying. The ironic thing is that adults tell kids to lie about their identity online even though it is against the law. Now people blame technology for why the kids feel bad instead of actually helping them to deal what is wrong with them. I think that Lori’s punishment should be about 5 years for what she did.

Teenagers' Internet Socializing Not a Bad Thing

Teenagers Internet Socializing Not a Bad Thing
‘”It may look as though kids are wasting a lot of time hanging out with new media…”’aid Mizuko the leader of a research team for the MacArthur Foundation. This foundation is researching how teenagers’ internet socializing is not necessarily a bad thing. Most teenagers use the internet to stay in touch with friends that they met at school or camp, or on sports teams. The study is part of a $5o million project on digital and media learning. They interviewed more than 8oo teenagers and their parents. They also observed teenagers online for moirĂ© than 5,ooo hours. To most people being online is a necessity which they can’t live with out.

Most teens use the internet for their homework but most of those teens get distracted and go on MySpace or Facebook. A lot of information can be found on the internet for school projects but who knows what is actually useful. Internet socializing can be a good thing and a bad thing. It can be a good thing because teenagers can keep in touch with people very far away. It is also a bad thing because teenagers can get distracted or hurt by pedophiles and such buy giving away to much information, as said in this article.

Technology Changing

Technology Changing Over the Years

Technology has changed over the past couple of years a lot. During the campaign time the use of it gets a lot bigger. The candidates have now in this past election posted videos on you tube and doing more stuff on facebook.
They posted things on facebook because they can get to more people faster and many college kids have facebooks and do not know who to vote for. By posting things on you tube people can see anything they want on the candidates which is good and bad. It is good because now people don’t have to get up really early to see a show which they would not have done but since it is on you tube they can check it out anytime. It is bad because now anyone can take a video or picture of anyone and upload it to you tube and facebook and any other place in the world.
This is all proven by the article Campaigns in a Web 2.0 World by David Carr and Brian Stelter. In this article they talk about the change of technology from election to election. They also talk about how some stations are not being watched as much because you can just seem them on you tube or somewhere else. Such as a video of McCain giving a speech that you missed is on you tube.

Safe blogging is where no personal infromation is shared and you only post sensible things. Everything that is posted on the internet stays there forever. You can delete something on a blog but it only deletes from the blog it was posted to and it is always somewhere on the internet. You don’t want to share personal information about you or other people because then random people know who you are and can contact you. You should always use common sense and not post any pictures or blogs that you wouldn’t want a future employer to see.If they do see something that is immature it can stop you from getting the job.You should always speak with proper english and not use curse words.
I use the internet to search things and do my homework. I also use it to keep in contact with my friends who don’t live near by. Since instant messaging is faster then email and email is faster then sending letters. The site that I most use is google.com that is also my email. I use the internet every day and so does about everyone my age.
My parents also use the internet every day but do not know how to use it as well. They use the internet for businesses so they can sell things online or advertise what they are selling. When my grandparents use the computer they need a lot of help since it is all new to them.
